What if the busiest parts of your day became the moments you learned the most?
For Siham Nuri, a student and mother from Ethiopia, that is exactly what happened. Between her studies, her child and the daily work of running a home, she did not have hours to sit in front of a screen. So the Quran came with her instead. “I now listen to the Quran learning sessions on Bayyinah whenever I’m doing house chores or other daily tasks,” she says. “It has become something I feel I cannot do without.”
A Habit That Built Itself
Nobody assigned Siham a study schedule. The habit grew on its own because the content kept pulling her back. Listening to the lessons motivated her to open the Quran with translation and try to understand it for herself. When she comes across an ayah she finds difficult, she does not skip past it. She searches for it on Bayyinah TV and learns its meaning before moving on.
That small loop, listen, read, ask, understand, is what consistent Quran study actually looks like for most people. It is not a retreat or a semester abroad. It is the decision to fill ordinary time with something that feeds you.
Two Weeks, One Surah
The results came quickly. “Within two weeks I am almost done with the Surah Al-Baqarah concise summary,” Siham shares. Surah Al-Baqarah is the longest surah in the Quran and for a non-Arabic speaker, working through its meaning is no small thing. “This is the first time I am truly trying to understand the Quran,” she says, “and it has been life-changing for me.”
Her du’aa for Ustadh Nouman points to a hadith that frames her whole story. The Prophet ﷺ said, “The best of you are those who learn the Quran and teach it” (Al-Bukhari). Siham asked Allah to make UstadhNouman among the best for teaching it. What she may not realize is that by studying it with this kind of sincerity, she has stepped into that same hadith herself.
You Do Not Need More Time. You Need a Different Use of It.
Siham’s story answers the most common objection people raise about studying the Quran: “I don’t have time.” She did not find extra hours. She repurposed the ones she already had. The dishes still get washed and the tasks still get done, but now those minutes carry meaning that lasts beyond the chore.
